Sechelt Retreat
October 4-6
Pursuit, Typhoon, Monsoon Swimmers
This is a team building weekend that we have ran for swimmers in Pursuit and Typhoon in the past. This year we would like to invite Monsoon swimmers to have an opportunity to build relationships with our Pursuit, Typhoon swimmers as well as with the Chinook team.
Swimmers are dropped at Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal at 4:00pm on Friday, October 4. They will walk onto the 4:45pm ferry as a group. Swimmers will walk onto the 3:35pm ferry in Gibsons and can be picked up at Horseshoe Bay at 4:15pm on October 6.
Swimmers will stay in Sarah and Rob Hynd's 'barn' which is a big developed building with two large open space floors, a kitchen, bathrooms and a bedroom for a chaperone. In the past all of the girls would stay downstairs and the boys upstairs with about 10-15 swimmers spread out on each floor on their own mattresses and bedding. Brad, Sarah and Rob will stay at their house just a short walk from the barn. Transportation to and from the ferry, house, pool and activities is provided by Chinook parents and any chaperones. Food is prepared by Chinook parents throughout the weekend. We will have a pool session both mornings Saturday and Sunday, dryland training, some team building, goals and activities based on the weather.
Swimmers need to bring the following: basic swim gear (suit, goggles, cap, towels), dryland gear (running shoes, team shirt, shorts), warm clothes, sleeping bag, air mattress, pillow. Also good to bring a flashlight and a bit of money for ice cream and treats. Costs for training, meals, transportation and accommodation will come out of our swimmer development fund.
Please login to our website and register by Friday, September 27 if your swimmer would like to attend as we need to know numbers. Any parents of Monsoon swimmers who would like to volunteer to help chaperone should contact Brad. Chaperones could stay at the barn or another location based on numbers.
